I decided to get this model over the “Premium” version offered for several reasons. I have used a clear glass scale for 10+ years before this, and I always liked the ease of cleaning the glass, and it looked as good after the 10 years as it did new out of the box. Plus the clear glass sort of disappears in my bathroom instead of being a dark rectangular blob on the floor. Nothing cleans easier than glass. Just spritz with glass cleaner when you change your towels, and use the towels destined for the laundry to give it a quick wipe….then it’s always looking clean. Plus, I didn’t need nor desire a larger/wider scale. I suppose if you’re very large that might be a benefit, but remember that bathrooms tend to be small areas, and a few extra inches of width can make all the difference. The display is large, backlit, and very easy to read. I wonder how the backlighting will eat batteries, but no word on that yet since it’s new. Not needing to tap the scale and wait before weighing is also a nice feature. Highly recommended.

I could not put this book down! I am in my 30’s and started to read this as recommended by a friend. I loved it. I got everyone in the office to read it and my Mom- she’s very picky and in her 60’s. They all are hooked! Must read before seeing the movie.

I bought & returned 6 different GPS units including the Tom Tom, Garmin and a few others. First, when you enter the address (which is by far the easiest address-entering compared to any of its competitors) it knows where you want to go. It always brought me to the exact spot that i needed to find. It has over 6,000,000 points of interest compared to 1-2 million on every other competitor. it is small, thin and very lightweight. THIS GPS ROCKS!!!

Great product. Love the sound quality and storage capacity. Only problem I have is iTunes! If I do anything to the setlist on my computer, it affects the iTouch.

I previously owned a Garmin 2620. I wanted to update to a larger screen and thus purchased the Garmin 7200. I loved the 7″ screen. The map was a 2007 series and thus too old. I attempted to download the free update from Garmin. The map would download to my computer but would not download into the Garmin. I called tech support and all they could say was try again. I tried twice more with the same result. I sent the 7200 back to Amazon.
I read the reviews on the next largest screen sizes. With the 4.7 screen size and the favorable reviews I was led to buy the 1470.
In a word, I love this Magellan. I am impressed with its compact size, the window mount, the clearity of the female voice, the ease of use, the immediate acquisition of the satellite, the ding-dong sound before a turn, the numerous times it tells me to turn in congested areas, the clearity of the screen, the clearity of the graphics, the ease of turning it on and off, the ease of typing in an address and the up to date map of the USA.
I use this in a 2005 Toyota 4 Runner. I have attached it to the windshield. It is unobtrusive and is positioned close to me when I am driving. I ordered a bean bag holder similar to the one I have for my Garmin but I think I will send it back. The windshield mount is perfect in this suv.
Another thing about this mount. There is absolutely no vibration of the Magellan. Bumpy roads make no difference, this baby is solid.
What would I change about this 1470. Make it wireless. Built in gps systems have no dangling wire but I have to live with the wire. I have routed it along a seam by the radio and secured it with small pieces of black electical tape and also some duct tape. The whole setup really hides the cord.
I paid $180 with free shipping. Amazon got this unit to me in just a few days. Hooray for Amazon.
